Nettie Byrd, RYT-200 and Owner

Nettie received her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification through Center for Yoga and Health in Clinton.  She also studied at Mississippi State University and obtained an Education degree from Delta State University.  She has spent many years in the classroom in a variety of schools in Mississippi and spent four valuable years in Washington, DC, at the U.S. Department of Education. Nettie is an energetic, passionate life-long learner.  She loves teaching yoga and academic subjects to children and adults.  She really enjoys it when her husband and two teenagers roll out their mats and join her.  “My classes are taught from a distinctly Christian perspective, but our doors are open to anybody from any religion or with any beliefs.  We welcome anyone interested in yoga to come practice at Yoga Yazoo.  My focus is on the intent of the yoga practice, not the source. "My intent is to glorify God, to take the best possible care of myself, and to encourage others to do the same.” - Nettie Byrd

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
Psalms 19:14

Lynzie Biggs, RYT-200

Lynzie started practicing yoga in 2007 during graduate school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a way of relieving intense anxiety and panic attacks she had suffered from since she was a child. Yoga has taught her to find the space between her thoughts and her reactions and has taken her on a path to a calmer, more centered lifestyle. Through yoga, she has not only learned the power of the breath, but she has also improved her balance, strength, and flexibility both on and off the mat. Lynzie made her way to Mississippi through Teach for America. In an effort to build community and bring the beauty of yoga to the people in her new home, she completed her RYT 200 training at Yoga Alliance accredited Joyflow Yoga in Ridgeland. Her classes are a balance of strength and surrender where she encourages students to take what they practice on their mats out into their lives in order to better serve themselves and others. She draws influence for her classes from the world around her as well as from a variety of yoga styles, piecing these components together to best serve students and to share with them the diversity and beauty that the practice has to offer.
